Tortoise's Toto

Tortoise is a FinTech App that helps people meet their personal financial goals by gamifying goal setting for users. Totem was brought on board to design and animate 'Toto', a character that would bring life and warmth to the app's UI.
I worked on the character design, poses and a few micro animations.
CHARACTER DESIGN
For Toto, we came up with a rounded square for his head and his shell that could possibly be used as the app icon as well. We designed it to look a bit like an emerald to match the brand's guidelines (which had Green as a primary colour) and the nature of their FinTech app. Since the brief required a character to make the UX friendly and warm, I tried out some playful sketches and gestures that could work in movement as well.
